Thrane & Thrane TT-3042C Remote Alarm Distress Box P/N 403042C is a dedicated marine distress alarm and remote alert unit developed for compatible GMDSS communication installations. It is designed to provide an accessible location from which crew can initiate a distress alert while also providing visual and audible indication of important safety and communication events. The TT-3042C is associated with Thrane & Thrane systems including the TT-3020C, TT-3022D and TT-3000E series.

The primary function of the TT-3042C is to enable a Distress Alert to be initiated from a remote position on board the vessel. According to the manufacturer’s user documentation, the protective distress cover is opened and the distress button is pressed for at least five seconds to initiate the alert. During activation, the button illumination and built-in audio alarm provide confirmation to the operator.

In addition to distress-alert functionality, the unit provides visual and audio alarm functions for incoming distress and urgency EGC messages. It can also indicate the fault status of the associated Maritime Earth Station (MES), making it an important interface between the vessel’s crew and its GMDSS communication equipment.
