Furuno FAR-2837S 30kW S-Band Marine Radar ARPA- Used Condition

Furuno FAR-2837S is a commercial S-band Marine Radar and ARPA system designed for long-range target detection, navigation and collision-avoidance support aboard large commercial vessels. It operates at approximately 3050 MHz ±30 MHz and provides 30 kW peak output power, with radar range scales extending to 96 nautical miles.

The S-band operating frequency gives the FAR-2837S an important advantage in conditions where X-band radar can be more strongly affected by rain, sea clutter and adverse weather. Furuno specifically describes the FAR-2837S as providing target detection in adverse weather conditions where X-band radar can be heavily affected by sea or rain clutter.

The system supports ARPA and AIS functionality, target tracking, CPA/TCPA information, target trails and guard zones. Furuno’s FAR-28×7 documentation also specifies sophisticated signal processing functions for improving target detection and radar presentation.

The FAR-2837S uses an open-array S-band antenna, with Furuno listing 10 ft and 12 ft antenna configurations for this model. The 12 ft configuration uses the SN-36AF antenna and the RSB-098 antenna gearbox/transceiver assembly in the documented FAR2837S/12 configuration.

The documented FAR2837S/12 system consists of the RPU-013S radar processor, RCU-014 keyboard control unit, RSB-098 24 RPM gearbox with 30 kW transceiver, MU-231 23.1-inch color LCD monitor, SN-36AF 12 ft open-array antenna and PSU-007-70-23 power supply.
