Furuno FAR-2117 X-Band 12kW ARPA Marine Radar- Used Condition

Furuno FAR-2117 is a commercial marine X-band radar and ARPA system designed to provide navigational awareness, target detection and tracking for merchant vessels and other commercial marine applications. The system operates at approximately 9410 MHz and provides 12 kW transmitter output, with range scales extending up to 96 nautical miles. FURUNO Product Solutions

The FAR-2117 supports automatic target tracking, ARPA functions and AIS target display, making it suitable for monitoring surrounding vessels and assisting bridge teams with navigation and collision-avoidance decisions. Furuno documentation specifies automatic tracking of acquired targets and AIS display capability for up to 1,000 AIS targets when suitable AIS data is provided.

The radar system can be supplied with different open-array antenna configurations depending on the installation. Furuno lists 4 ft, 6.5 ft and 8 ft antenna options, while the system includes associated processor, control and display equipment. The standard equipment configuration includes the RPU-013 processor unit, RCU-014 full-keyboard control unit and antenna unit, with the display arranged around the MU-190 19-inch color LCD in the later configuration.

The FAR-2117 can also interface with other bridge-navigation information including heading, speed and AIS data. Its radar presentation supports Head-Up, Course-Up, North-Up and North-Up TM modes, while the system provides target trails, guard zones and radar-map functionality.

Since Furuno has discontinued the FAR-2117, it can be particularly relevant to vessel operators, ship-management companies, marine electricians and service companies looking for replacement or spare radar equipment for existing installations.
